2018 Wedding Trends with Kate Murtaugh

Kate Murtaugh Events & Design is a bespoke wedding event planning and design studio serving New England and beyond. We were lucky enough to work with Kate and a group of enormously talented wedding vendors on a recent wedding photoshoot, and we just had to pick Kate’s brain about her favorite 2018 wedding trends.

What’s your current favorite wedding trend?

Kate:  I’m not sure it’s a trend but I do see them way more now than in the past. Tented weddings are some of my favorite (I even had one at my wedding). There is something so romantic about how the sun hits the white peaks of tent and how you can completely customize the look and feel of the space to perfectly reflect your taste and dreams.

What’s your stance on quality vs. quantity?

Kate: Hands down, quality. We can create a wedding to fit any guest count but at the end of the day the quality of craftsmanship and creative work from your wedding vendors and the special details designed to paint your story as a couple are what will make a lasting impression for your guests and most importantly, give you the wedding of your dreams.

How do you perfectly execute the bride’s style in your planning & design?

Kate: It’s super important for the wedding day to be a perfect reflection of my couples in terms of style, personality and taste. To make sure we have a strong sense of who our couples are and what they want, we have them fill out a detailed questionnaire to get very specific input on their design taste

What’s one thing you wish every bride would remember on her wedding day?

Kate: This is the start of your new life together, and you’re going to look back at this night as one of the best nights EVER. So look around. Be thankful. Give love. And ENJOY.
